Radio Shows & Mixtapes: The Final Chapter...Futura Flavas!

We come to an end of another series by posting up something fairly new. Future Flavas started as a radio show, but is now the number one internet hip hop radio show, something I myself try to catch on the regular (when I have fucking internet that is). A bunch of cats are responsible for the show, led by Marley Marl, and along with other artists/DJ's 9th Wonder, Pete Rock, Beatminerz and everyone's favorite DJ/Producer, DJ Premier.
DJ Premier Live On Future Flavas Jan 03'

This is an episode from Jan 03'. Nothing real special, but none the less fun to listen to. I find myself putting it on when I'm playing Madden or some shit.

More info at:
http://www.myspace.com/futureflavas
http://futureflavasonline.com/

I realize I could have made this series better. But this won't be the last time we run this. I have more stuff in the chamber. Still need to convert a lot of my old tapes into Mp3 form and will one of these days when I send the stuff to Brian aka Straight Checkin' Em.

Re-ups/Requests & RIAA at again.

Once again motherfuckers, it's on. Let me know what needs to be re-upped. I know some of you all have mentioned shit, but I forget shit and shit's been hectic the past couple weeks. So if you need something re-upped, this is your time to say something.

So far got WYDU VOL 8, a track off of DJ Double R, The second Bobbito & Stretch radio show, True Culture - Rude Boys Come To Play

Let me know of some other stuff by posting in the comments.

Requests: Go ahead and request things. I saw a couple up in the cbox that I had. Word of warning though, if there are a lot of re-up requests, new requests will take a back seat.

Also, I've been pretty laxed about it, but I WILL NOT post up anything that is in print from here on out. I don't mean to be a dick about it, but I'm going to try to take this blog in a certain direction in the coming months and the posting of albums that can easily be bought might retard the growth and direction I want to take it. I will be willing to email some stuff to people that are active contributors to the site and other blog runners. As far as sharing in print albums on here, I guess I can't do much about that. If you have a question of whats in print, easiest way to check is go to Amazon.com and see if they themselves are selling the album. If it ships from Amazon, the album is still in print. If it's handled by another seller only, it's more than likely out of print.

As I said, I'm not dead set against sharing of music(obviously). I actually think it can help artists in some ways. I do think if you enjoy and album and you have the means, you should buy the album. It only helps make certain that the artist can make more music in the future. I've also spent literally thousands and thousands of dollars on shitty albums, so I'll be damned if I'm going to keep doing that. I will listen to things first.

As far as what I'm doing and other blogs such as Bust The Facts, I think we are keeping the culture and the music alive that otherwise would be forgotten. I mean really, how often have you gone to Bust The Facts or came here and found something you had forgotten about ages ago. I know I have myself. We are keeping the legacy of some artists and music alive. For that, I don't feel bad about it.

Why am I talking about this, other than the fact that I have my own selfish motives in mind? I ran across this on a myspace bulletin. The RIAA has great power and I figured it would be sooner or later before they came cracking down on this blogging explosion. I myself have remained relatively untouched by RIAA (knock on wood), but I've heard of and seen Record Labels and/or artists put the foot down. Now if an artist comes to me and asks me to take something down, I'll respect their wishes in a heartbeat, but seriously, the RIAA and some of the labels that feed us bullshit music are the ones that need to check themselves. Make good music and more often than not, people will buy it......anyway here is the post...

RIAA Legal Ruling Could Shut Down The Internet
U.S. government supports legal case that would criminalize making any files available on the world wide web

Paul Joseph Watson
Prison Planet
Wednesday, November 29, 2006

A landmark legal case on behalf of the Recording Industry Association of America and other global trade organizations seeks to criminalize all Internet file sharing of any kind as copyright infringement, effectively shutting down the world wide web - and their argument is supported by the U.S. government.

Ray Beckerman, a lawyer representing clients in cases against the RIAA, recently took part in a
conference call organized by DefectiveByDesign.org, an organization which opposes DRM Technology, content restricting programs embedded into software that blocks users access to music, movies, software and other forms of digital data.

Beckerman describes how Internet users are randomly targeted by the RIAA for simply having a folder of music on their computer, kept in the dark about legal details and intimidated into paying thousands of dollars immediately or facing a federal lawsuit. The RIAA doesn't even attempt to prove copyright infringement with specific examples, dates or times - it simply coerces and threatens the victim until they relent into paying out huge settlement fees.

"They have an investigator pretend to be a user of KAZAA or one of the other similar file-sharing networks. He finds a shared files folder that has a goodly number of copyrighted songs in it. He has no idea whether those song files were obtained legally, whether though payed downloads, or through making personal copies from one's own CD for backup purposes, or whether anything illegal was ever done with those files, whether anyone ever copied one. And what he does: he takes a screen shot of this shared files folders (He of course does not see the folders, he merely sees the text in the metadata) and decides that this is a big shared file folder."

"Then through some secret process which he will not share with us and has tried to conceal from the courts, he then associates it with a dynamic ip address. And then, after he has what he believes is the correct dynamic ip address, for the date and time at which he made that screen shot, he then brings a proceeding to get the name and address of the subscriber who paid for the internet access, which of course would tell us nothing. But once he gets that information he then sues the person."

In one case, UMG vs. Lindor, a cleaner who has never used or owned a computer but simply dusted near one was sued as an online distributor in peer to peer file sharing.

Accusing the RIAA of "conducting a reign of terror" by bringing lawsuits against defenseless people, Beckerman warned that one case in particular, Electro vs. Barker, has the potential to shut down the Internet completely.

RIAA's argument is that Miss Baker, a poor nursing student who lives in housing projects, should be prosecuted on the basis that "merely making files available on the internet is in and of itself a copyright infringement."

Beckerman calls the complaint "a shocking argument because if it were accepted it would probably shut down the entire internet."

The U.S. government has also filed legal briefs supporting the RIAA's argument.

Deep sixing the entire Internet seems a highly unlikely move in that it would probably derail the world economy and put thousands of huge transnational corporations out of business. An outcome more likely to happen if this ruling is accepted is that it would further pave the way for government regulation and tracking of the Internet, namely "Internet 2," a completely controlled, surveilled and autocratic cyber police state similar to the Chinese model, whereby website owners have to obtain government permission to run a blog, be approved by a biometric thumb scan just to turn their computer on, and immediately get their Internet access shut off if they misbehave.

This case is another attack arm of forces in government and the corporate structure that seek to suffocate the last outpost of true freedom of speech and dissent and it must be countered at all costs.

I'm not the most political person. Maybe I should be, but this one kind of hits close to home. This is starting to infringe on my rights as a person, it's not just about sharing music anymore.

Now, I understand this might be a bit extreme. It might be some conspiracy bullshit, but none the less, they always seem to find a way to shut shit down. Look at what happen to Napster & Audio Galaxy. I'm suprised they haven't nailed Kazza (I don't use it, but it seems to be the most popular one).

Anyway, something to think about and watch about. As I've said, I haven't been hassled by the RIAA yet, but I wouldn't be suprised to be seeing something within the next year.

Peace, Travis

The FM Dial....Radio Shows & Mixtapes: Part IV

Afrika Islam - WHBI Early 80's mix (From 83? I believe)
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=1PSWXHN8

You can't have a radio posting without including the 13th B-boy for the Zulu Nation and the man credited with being the first Hip Hop Radio DJ. Afrika Islam is rooted in Hip Hop history from coast to coast, being involved with the Afrika Baambaataa & the Zulu Nation on the east coast in the late 70's. In the late 80's he was an important cog along Donald D (another east coast Zulu Nation member that moved west) & Ice T in starting the Rhyme Syndicate and bringing authenticity to the west.

As far as this clip, it's a approx 20 minute set, done sometime in the early 80's. It's basically just all mixed together, but it's rather interesting if nothing else. A small piece of history.

Terminator X Rap Mix Hour
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=966YPT4Q
I'm unsure of any orgins of this. I guess I found it interesting since Terminator X wasn't exactly the most charismatic of Hip Hop DJ's and even has some debate on just how much of an actual DJ he was. No clue on year or radio station, but here it is for your listening pleasure.

Harlem World Christmas Battle 81' http://www.megaupload.com/?d=59TFSHO0

I was going to save this little gem for later, but with the lack of quality posts for a few days, I figured I'd come correct. Honestly, if you have any love for TRUE Hip Hop, the history and the culture, you should already have this little diddy in your collection. This is THE infamous Harlem World tape. I orginally got this bad boy as some 45th generation tape waaaaaay back in the day. I was memorized by it when I got it, because it was the first lesson in REAL old school culture. This has the infamous Busy Bee Vs Kool Moe Dee battle that has made the rounds on the internet before along with some other classic groups that you just have to download to find out.

This is an example of the first mixtapes that were orginally out there. No DJ's, no exclusives, just some cat recording the events unfolding before him through out the night. This IS history in all it's glory. I suspect a lot of the hardcore cats are there will already have this, but for those of you who don't, get on this and don't let it pass you up, because this will be the early days that people a 100 years from now will be talking about.

RE-UP's

Alright, I realized I've been slacking on re-upping shit and replacing corrupt tracks, so if there is something that has a corrupt track or you can't download, let me know and I'll try to get it up this week.

If there is anything on the site that is no longer up and you want a re-up, again, let me know and I'll re-up it on Friday. If there is an over abundance of things that people need re-up, that might take place of the Friday Requests.

I'm back in Denver and back to a some what normal schedule, although the next couple days are busy with school stuff, but I should be able to reply to emails and comments a little better after back to back weeks of heavy work loads and holiday travel. If you sent me an email and I haven't replied back, forgive me tardiness, but I'll get back at you. And Rob my man, I spaced shit off again man, but we'll connect one of these days bro!

NEW BLOG WORTH CHECKING & FORUMS
Haven't done this in awhile, but wanted to show some love to a new blog out there that deserves some shine. To The Break Of Dawn deserves to get off the ground. The first few posts have been exceptional, so it's a site worth watching. If you enjoy the old school out of print shit that the Daughter brings you, you need to check ...Break Of Dawn... as well.

I added links to some forums I frequent while trying to kill time in between classes (and I wonder why I don't get anything done) and at work. Now I'm not going to lie and say I'm a big fans of forums, because I hate most of them. Every once in awhile though, I find some I can deal with. A lot of forums are either over zealous rap kids trying to tell everyone why Dipset is the greatest shit since "Depends Undergarments" or some Hip Hop nerd kid on Anticons dick, so I tend to shy away from most of them. BUT, that being said, you can find some great stuff on some of these forums (Cocaine Blunts in its Prime) and can communicate with some cool people (This site is made up of four MastaAce.com members). If there are any others out there that you think I should check out, feel free to drop links, but please don't leave no bull shit. There are others out there that I need to dedicate more time to, but it's hard to get into forums a whole lot. The only ones I'd call myself a "regular" on are mastaace.com and cocaineblunts.

That's another post in the books

Respect Due, Travis

King Of Talking On Shit....Mixtapes/Radio Show Part Three

I'm alive and well after last night. Fairly uneventful, a few old hang outs, a strip club, and a lot of Madden and music. Only crazy thing was a chick lost a bet and I'll leave it at that and you guys can use your imaginations.

Alright we'll drop a couple more mixtapes on y'all. Hopefully these aren't fucking corrupted. One of my least favorite mixtapes DJ's is DJ Clue. Why am I putting him on then? Well, he does have a mark in the game for sure. If the fuck would just stop talking all over shit he wouldn't be all that bad.

Clue is famous for coming up with the exclusives on his shit, pretty much the first DJ to do that. Sometimes they weren't exactly "cleared" with the artist as you can tell by an intro on one of the mixtapes I'm about to drop. It has Biggie doing a phone interview and giving a "shout out" of sorts to Clue. Something about finding him on the streets.

Anyway, I'm not in the mood to write a whole lot about this. Yeah, I'm being lazy, but only have so much time and so many things to do while I'm vacation.

DJ Clue 1994 mixtape (just realized my copy is missing tracks 20 & 21. Sorry about that)
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=TZBG7XDA

Next is a Bad Boy mixtape from 96' I believe. It's Puffy and a DJ screaming all over it, but it's still kind of cool to get a glimpse into Bad Boy at the height of their rule. A couple nice freestyles on here (Redman).

That's all boys & girls. I got some college football action to catch and a big game for these parts, Boise State Vs Nevada...GO BIG BLUE!!

I Used To Sell Mixtapes...Part 2

Happy Thanksgiving to those of you who celebrate it. I just woke up out of a turkey/wine induced slumber and thought I'd crank out a post while I had the chance. I'm not going to get into the ethics of whether Thanksgiving is a holiday worth celebrating, to me though, it's a great time to get together with family and friends and thats a good enough reason to have a holiday.

I am back home in the van glorious Pacific Northwest with my parents and friends that I grew up with. As some of you know, I live in Denver and don't get the opprutunity to get home as much I'd like, but everytime I come home I realize just how much I miss it and just how much having good friends around means something.

Thats what I'm thankful for, good friends. Since being burned pretty bad by so-called friends about 10 years ago, I am picky about who I hang out with and I can put myself out to. As the old saying goes "you are who you roll with". Don't get me wrong, I have a core of pretty good friends in Denver, but nothing can replace the crew I have here at home. Since I rolled into town yesterday everyone has taken the time to call me and we all have big plans for tomorrow night. Yours truly is dirt ass poor but they all tell me that they are taking care of me. And they have before.

My best friend here in town is someone I'd do anything for. We met about 10 years ago working at Hewlett Packard on the weekends. I was in my second year of college and he had just graduated high school. I had just started the new job and sat down next to this skinny black kid with coke bottle glasses. I tried to talk to him about hip hop and he just kind of give me that look like "what the fuck do you know about hip hop, white boy". Later he'd see me reading "The Source" and made some sort of comment like "where to fuck you find that magazine", since he'd never seen one before. Later he'd walk by my car out in the parking lot while I was blasting some sort of hip hop, I don't remember what, and he knocked on my window, I unlocked the door and he climbed in. A friendship was born.

Over the past 10 years, I've moved several times, yet we always keep in touch. We've both been through "baby mama drama", we've bailed each other out of jail for various offenses, he's picked me up from downtown drunk off my ass numerous times in the past and he even saved me once from sure time downtown in the county jail after I threw some cat through a hot dog stand on a Friday night by grabbing me and weaving me through the crowd while Jake was on his way.

We call each other weekly to discuss the state of hip hop. He is not internet savy, doesn't burn anything and only checked this blog out once or twice before, so we are in two completely different aspects in hip hop. This brings up some interesting conversations. Just this week he called to tell me I was an idiot for saying the "Black Republican" beat sucked balls. That made for an interesting conversation. He calls me a "backpacking" nerd while I tell him to keep listening to his Rick Ross. One of my greatest memories in hip hop though came with him. We got off of work one Saturday afternoon and went to do our weekly Hip hop shopping at the store. We'd go through all the used CD's buying everything we could. Well this particular saturday we picked up the new Mobb Deep, "The Infamous". We went out to my GMC Jimmy and threw it in my system. I had two 12"s and a Fosgate Punch 150, so needless to say I was pushing some bass. We listened to the entire album without leaving the park lot. We were that memorized. It's something I'll never forget.

Friday night promises to be one of those nights that go down in infamy. Some of my friends are back from Iraq and I haven't seen in 2-3 years. Others are just a blast to hang out with. As I said, I have a good core of dudes in Denver I hang with, but something special about your hometown homies. The thing is though, good friends are hard to find and for that I'm thankful this Thanksgiving.

Alright, enough getting all emotional, must be the wine and 2 coronas talking, it's time for a mixtape. Today we are coming with something that I bought out of "The Source" back in the days, DJ Double R.

I know next to nothing about this cat, but since it was one of my first New York mixtapes I ever bought, it holds extra meaning to me. It has a nice little mix of R&B and hip hop, I used to listen to it alot back in the day.

I'm not going to get into the track listing, you'll have to find it out yourself because that's about all I'm going to write.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=KOJR343V

No requests this week. Since I'm away from my collection, I wouldn't do much good. Go ahead and try to help each other out if you want. Sorry for any corrupt tracks (I'm going to stop working on that computer, it's pretty much bullshit), but I'll try to fix anything wrong when I get back. I'll post a few more times over the weekend....peace out

Trav

(***Yesterday's post that I couldn't post****)

Before Al Gore invented the internet, acquiring, or just hearing for that matter, the latest new joint was a difficult chore back in the days. Even with "Yo! MTV Raps", you didn't hear some of the "lower than the devil" type of underground stuff that was out in those early 90's and the such. We basically had two ways to hear that new "funky, fly, fresh, stuff", either on a hip hop radio show, such as KISS FM or if you were out on the west coast, KDAY. New York radio had shit on lock back then. You had radio jocks such as Red Alert, Mr. Magic, Awesome Two and Chuck Chillout. I wasn't fortunate enough to be from New York, but would regularly buy tapes from dealers in the back of The Source magazine. There are still some tracks on some of those tapes that I have no clue who the artists are.

The other way for us to hear the new stuff was through mixtapes. Now I'm not talking about the garbage "mixtapes" that pollute the industry in the present day, I'm talking more about the Kid Capri's (The Godfather of the mixtape), the Ron G's, the Brucie B's & the Doo Wop's. They always had some of the exclusives are never heard before type stuff. Again, I bought alot of mixtapes from "The Source" ads, DJ Double R, DJ Double SS, Kid Capri, and some other goodies that I have long since lost.

Mixtapes have been around since Hip Hop first started, only then, it was a home made recording of a party or a show in the park. Grandmaster Flash tapes were like gold back then. Anyone remember the infamous Harlem World tape? Show's and performances like these gave way to DJ's such as Brucie B recording his DJ set's at clubs such as The Rooftop. Kid Capri would go on to add the classics and R&B and soul to his mixes. Ron G would master the art of blending R&B a cappellas & hip hop beats. DJ Clue would be credited with turning mixtapes into the marketing tool that they are seen today, with the exclusives, the world premiers and the such.

For the next couple weeks at least, we'll be covering some of the radio shows and mixtapes from back in the day. I don't have the best collection of stuff and as I said I still have some stuff on tape (although, I've lost a ton of tapes over the years) that I need to send to Brian to convert, but we'll throw up some of the "classic" mixtapes and radio shows that help make hip hop history.

First up is the second is the WKCR duo, Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito. The cats had the "Best Hip Hop Radio Show" voted by The Source in the history of hip hop. College radio at it's best, they help jump start sooooooo many MC's career. I can only imagine being able to cop this show on the radio back in the day.

This is the 10-28-93 show that I promised after posting up the 11-11-93 show in last weeks requests. These must have been released on some sort of CD format that I'm unaware of, but none the less, it's a little slice of history.
Stretch Armstrong & Bobbito 10-28-93 Show

It's a little late, but better late than never. WYDU Classics Vol 11, Nov 06'
1. Everybody Get High - Young Zee
Always been a big Young Zee fan. Can't remember if this was after Musical Meltdown or not, but classic Zee in it's own right.

2. Good Times - 10 Bass T
I remember hearing this back in the day, and thankfully just picked up on Masscorporation recently

3. Ain't No Future In Yo' Frontin - MC Breed
Odd enough, I wasn't a fan of this joint although it got major play on Yo! back in the day. Guess I was hating on anything not from NY, LA, or Miami at the time.

4. Ready To Go - Miami Boyz
I remember a cheap as fuck video for this jam, but I loved it. Had been searching for it forever until the almight Bust The Facts hooked it up.

5. M.I.A. - Missin' Linx
You've all heard the sample before, but rest assured this track came out a full two years before Dre. Kind of takes away from Dre's track just thinking about it.

6. E-40 - Sprinkle Me
I remember not wanting to like this song, but my homeboy from back in the day made me like this song by playing it every freaking day.

7. Almyghty Myghty Pythons - Curb Your Nerve
The Souls and 'Cyde project that never came to be. They released the one single back in 2000 or 01' but that was about it. This is more of an A+ solo track than a group track though.

8. Beastie Boys - So Whatcha' Want (Soul Assasin Remix)
always a big Soul Assasins fan

9. Colored Section - The Bomb MC
I love this track since hearing it a couple years ago, a cat from MadKap

10.Brand Nubian - Alladat
My favorite Buckwild beat of all time, plus the lyrics mean a lot after dealing with a bunch of fake ass friends back when this orginally dropped

11. Cisco The Frisco Mack - Audi 5000
Found this on 12 inchers and loved it

12. Da King & I - Let's Take A Trip
One of my favorite tracks on this album

13. Donte - Heat
Hi-Tek when he didn't suck. I love this track. Donte was down with Mood, but I'm hoping he drops something after hearing this.

14. Doo Wop & The Bounce Squad - Hit Em' In The Head
A bunch of MC's that I don't feel like namin

15. Eminem & Royce Da 5' 9" - Nuthin' To Do
This is the Em that I love. I was always hoping there would be a "Bad Meets Evil" LP

16. Godfather Don - Piece of the Action
Classic GFD

17. Steady B - Serious (BDP Remix)
All this Steady talk the past month got me listening to this track alot

18. Bas Blasta - The Rythm
Another posse cut

19. Dr. Feelgood - Nice & SmoothOne more posse track to boot

One last note. I've never really been big on joining clubs, movements, or any of that type of stuff, but I saw some flyers around my campus for the Hip Hop Congress and decided to check it out. After a meeting, I decided it was something I could get down with. I know there are some dudes from the Denver Metro area that frequent the site, so I thought I'd throw this up to get some more heads to it. It's a Hip Hop Showcase. We are trying to get some positive light shown to some local break dance crews, artists (both DJ's & MC's) and the graffiti artists. All four elements are going to be covered. I'm involved with helping putting on (although a fairly small role), so I'd like to see kick off with a fairly decent gathering.

Badda Bing, Badda Boom.....

Well, a week from hell is in the books. Fuck school, seriously. Here I am in my 30's still trying to finish up a degree so I can work for the man. I swear one of these days I'm going to move my ass down to some tropical tourist island and live in a hut and serve icees to the tourists and drinks with fruit and little umbrellas in them. I'm questioning my ability to close out this last leg of my degree. I knew I should have went into journalism instead of the science field. Whatever......that's my rant session.

This fourth quarter is generating some buzz in the hip hop world. The Clispe, The Game, Jay, Nas, Fat Joe, Snoop, Hi-Tek, along with others. Making my rounds in some of the forums I either post in or lurk in and cats are buzzing about this shit coming out. Some dude even said it reminded him of "High School" days. I don't know dudes background, but I can't really say this stuff coming out is all that great. Maybe I'm the resident old cat on the corner talking about the "good ole' days" all the time, but none of this stuff coming out really makes me feel like the art is any better of a position than it was 5 years ago.

I've heard every album mentioned up above except for the Clispe (gettting ready to throw it in the 'phones right now and of course Nas, but judging from the tracks I've heard already, I'm not holding my breath.) and none of them really give me that "warm fuzzy feeling". The Game is....I guess not my bag of tricks. Jay's new album has some moments, but also a couple tracks that made me upchuck my lunch. Fat Joe was cool the first time I listened to it. Now, I've NEVER owned a Joe album in my life. He's never been my favorite, hell I've never even liked his music much. I thought this could be a new page for Joe. Then the second time I listened to it, I fell asleep. I woke up 20 minutes later and I thought the same song was still playing. Then I started listening and low and behold, I thought I was hearing the same song over and over again. Not a good sign. Snoop's is better than his last few albums, well everything since Doggfather, but coming in at 20 songs and guest apperances on 17 of those, it's a little too much. Hi- Tek is just booty.

So my question is....Are people just accecpting the lower quality now a days? I mean really, this wave of stuff is more names than quality. The year on a whole has been rather lackluster to me. Only one album has really grabbed me the way albums used to, meaning I listened to it more than 2-3 times, and you'll have to wait for the massive year end WYDU post to find out what that was. There were some good albums, but really, cats are geeked up over stuff that is no where near what it was in the late 80's to mid 90's.

I realize things will never be the same, but when dudes are saying this is the second coming of the "Golden Age" I just cringe. This has to be dudes that weren't around during the Golden Age. They weren't there to buy "The Infamous" and sit in the parking lot for an hour listening to it because they were memorized so much they didn't want to drive anywhere. They didn't pick up Big Daddy Kane, NWA, and Rob Base all in the same day. They didn't watch taped "Yo! MTV Raps" episodes over and over learning the words to songs. Hell, I can only recite lyrics to a hand full of albums released in the past 10 years. Maybe I'm just a bitter old man, but sometimes I wish acquiring music wasn't so easy. Yeah, this is coming from someone running a blog himself, contributing to the whole mess. Guess I'm just in a bitter & pissy mood.

Anyway, enough ranting....It's time for requests

The Hip Hop Version Of The National Enquirer....Reading Material

Let's face it, us guys can be just as bad as women when it comes to gossip. Look at some of the dudes into professional wrestling. I haven't watched it since the mid 90's, but all it is, is men soap operas.

Personally myself, I'm big into behind the scenes of the Hip Hop scene, especially the old school bullshit. I just like hearing about stuff that happened back in the day. So when I was messing around on the internet looking for some info on something I am posting up in the requests and ran across this, it entertained me for awhile and thought I'd share it. Some of it is kind out there, some of it I could care less about, but there is someone interesting stuff none the less. I think I've seen something like it before on a message board, so it's been out there for awhile. There are some comments by a "secret New York Confirmer", then I'll put my two cents in as well on some. My Comments in Color

GOt it from http://www.supremebeingunit.com/news/2005_09.shtml

TRUE LIES! peep this list of rumors, half-truths, and pure secrets... it's time reality is revealed!
Enjoy... and discuss amongst your friends!
Some of these are rumors, and some are very true

-LL Cool J and Kool Moe Dee came to blows one night backstage.
Not too sure about this.
I've heard this more than once

-Freddie Foxxx put a gun in Benzino's mouth on the Flavor Unit tour bus, because Benzino would not stop talking **** about what a thug he was
This is true.
I tend to believe anything about FOXX

-"The bridge is over" was a Marley Marl beat that Krs One and Scott La Rock found in a studio.
Conflicting stories on this one. It was definitely "found" though. If it's Marley's...
I think KRS mentions something like this in "Rakim Told Me", book

-2pac was robbed and shot by some of Supreme's boys.
He was robbed by King Tut's/Jimmy Henchmen's crew. And them BMF niggaz (No, not the ones you see now in the rap videos) that extorted Bad Boy for years

-"I got a story to tell" was vaguelly based on a real life incident Biggie had when he was slipping pipe to John Starks' woman.
No.

-Big Pun hit Jay Z over the head with a bottle in a club.
The TS and Roc-A-Fella clique (None rappers) got into a fight one night at a Club. Big Pun did confront Jay-Z that night, but Jay-Z had to fall the fuck back. Even though Roc-A-Fella was far deeper.

-Eric. B beat down Large Professor and ran Kool G. Rap out of New York to Arizona after 'G. Rap revealed Large Pro produced most of the beats Eric B was supposed to have done on the Eric B. & Rakim albums and "wanted dead or alive".
Indeed. Yes.
I've heard you don't want to fuck with Eric B more than once

-Biz Markie produced most of EPMD's first album.
No.

-Ghostface, Superb and their team beat down and robbed 50 Cent and Tony Yayo after 50's dis tracks.
No.

-Just Ice was a prime suspect in a murder case.
Yep. And we willl leave it at that.

-Just Ice turned up in Queens on Poet's block after the two Rockwell Noel & The Poet tracks dissing Krs One, Red Alert and Ms. Melodie with a shotgun and waited for Poet to come out. Needless to say, Poet stayed in the crib that day.
True.
Confirmed.... he mentions it in this interview

-DJ Ready Red was kicked out of Geto Boys and shafted by J. Prince because of his lack of melanin.
Yep.
That's fucked up, dude is cool from talking to him on myspace

-Alpo, Fritz, the original 50 Cent from Ft Greene and various other notorious hustlers/killers from the legendary Paid In Full Posse were in the crew shots on "paid in full" and "follow the leader".
Yep.
They were also part of the Mobstyle shit from back then. Some crazy DVD's out there about them if you ever run across them

-Rakim recorded a dis cut aimed at 'Kane for "let the rhythm hit 'em" and had a verse on the title track itself aimed at him. 'Kane heard about this and called Rakim to squash it and Rakim went on to scrap the track and remove the verse.
Yep.

-Eric B. did security for Mike Tyson throughout much of the 90's.
Yep.

-A young Fat Joe and his boys Tony Montana(R.I.P) and Charlie Rock L.D were one of the top two crack crews in the Bronx in the mid 80's and bringing in thousands of $$$$ per day.
Not Fat Joe but his boy Tony Montana was big dealer back in the 80s. Fat Joe was in there with him, but he wasn't his main sidekick or anything in the game.

-Q Tip got fuked up so bad by one of the members of Wrexx N Effect that he lost partial sight in one of his eyes. ****EDIT***^^^^^very true^^^^^
Yep.
I remember when this happened. Funny though, Wreckx never stepped to Ice Cube for his "You Can New Jack Swing On My NUTS!" line

-Nas came incredibly close to being on the Large Pro produced Kool G Rap, Xtra P, Freddie Foxxx and Ant posse cut "money in the bank" as he was always hangin' around Eric B.'s studio but had gone to pick up some weed with a chick so they let the Ant kid on there instead.
Conflicting stories here, I tend to believe this is the most plausible one of them all.

- Grimm was supposed to be on "Live at the Barbecue" but he was arrested on the way to the studio.
Yep.
Read it in an interview with Grimm

-Rza and Killah Sin and another fam member went to see 50 perform after How To Rob and 50 got wind of them being there and dipped backstage and didn't perform, I have heard this one several times.
This is true, but how they left is all speculation.
Seems like Wu was always hot on the heels of 50 back in the day

-Redman Smacked Prodigy around the time Hell On Earth was out b/c he was dissing Keith and Def Squad.
No. He showed in Queenbridge, one deep with a hoodie, and confronted Mobb Deep (Mind you Mobb was 20 deep and Redman was solo) and said "Do you got a problem?" and Prodigy fell the fuck back and said "Nope". And that was the end of it. Confirmed by Redman AND Prodigy and Havoc in the Source around 1996. Keith Murray did hit Prodigy.
I've heard different stories about this one, but they usually wind up with P catching an eye jammie

-A member of Wu got jumped at Suge's club in Las Vegas and Pac didn't like the way it went down and told Suge to squash the beef and he agreed outta respect.
Yep.

-When Nas came to Boston around 94/95 somebody in RSO Crew (possibly Benzino) walked up to Nas and sonned him by knocking his baseball cap off of his head.
I never heard of this, but I doubt it. Nas was always crazy deep back in the early 90s. They used to shut down his shows cause members of his click would rob the people in the crowd.

-Freddie Foxxx went to Landspeed records like 200 deep in order to get the money they owed him.
Not that deep, but yeah.
Again, believe anything about Freddie. Unkut.com has one about Freddie ready to fuck up Kool Keith in the friendly skies

-Kool Herc was shot around 78 or something.
HE was shot. When, I don't know.
I know for a fact he was stabbed as well

-Grandmaster Caz wrote Rappers Delight.
Yep.
Common knowledge

-Pharrel use to carry records around for Teddy Riley.
Yep. He also wrote some hit songs for him also.

-Benzino forced Mays to give him part ownership of the source. There are legends of Benzino and his people tying up Mays in his own closet.
Close enough

-Benzino actually one of the main reasons why Boston had such a small homicide rate in the late 90's, the Feds put UC's on every block and had a lot crazy ish going on so Benzino got a lot of the heads of the bigger gangs together to unite so that not everyone get locked up. That saw the murder lessen and the Boston police taken credit for "doing away with crime in a big city".
True. Not sure if he's the main reason, but he helped to get the feds off his ass.

-The entire city of Boston was blacklisted back in the day by the industry due to crowds and Boston rappers and thugs attending shows just to cause problems. Every rapper from Audio Two to Biggie had either a bottle smashed across their head on stage or their show cancelled due to a shooting. To this day very few rappers do shows in the Boston hoods because of it.
Yep.

-Everyone in CashMoney has done at least 2 years in prison I believe.
No.

-Jay-z was told by Scarface to change Reasonable Doubt because he actually named names of dealers.
Yep.

-Guru didnt leave boston in the best of terms which is why the early of stages of his carrear boston did not play a big part. Gang Starr originally started in Boston and had a few emcees in it. Guru left for NY and took the name without people knowing.
Yep.

-Rakim was still in high school when paid in full dropped.
He was 18, not sure if he was in High School.

-suge beating the sh*t out of snoop's/ dre homies cause they were using that phone that harry o had an exclusive phone line... and the dudes saying saying to suge "hey we roll wit dr. dre"! first sign of dre holding no weight
Yep.

-LL Cool J was cool with Alpo and many other rappers had drug ties then.
Yes. He copped from them. He was a coke head.

-Tupac did have some of his enemies killed.
No he didn't.
Big Stretch from Live Squad's death is awful fishy though

-Eazy-E was from a very middle class family so was Ice cube they weren't thugs
No. Eazy E was one of the biggest dealers in Cali. Cube isn't a thug, though.

-Suge doesnt like game because he expose some of Death Row business (stuff about Harry-O) and because he is not really blood.
They are cool.

-The reason Sheek wasn't around much after LOX split from Bad boy cause he was clearing up cases he had.
True.

-The real reason Mase left hip hop & Harlem is because of heavy extortion, not an epiphany from god
Him leaveing is a complicated story. His bullshit got his two best friends killed. I'll just say he fucked over the wrong person's woman.

FACT: as if i had to tell u, i hear from an insider source that Queen Latifah is certified 100% dyke, she just hasent announced it yet
Well, she has had males pound her out (I know this for sure. No not me. Just saying I know she's fucked with many niggaz).

Kanye West produced some of THE best hits for bad boy back in the day and Deric D-Dot Angeletti was taking all the credit for production because kanye was under him-i heard this many times
Heard this too. No idea.

I heard Lil kim's on/off boyfriend is a hardened killer and tried to take out sombody in jersey i forget who, i think 50 cent
Yes, World is is killer and from one of Brooklyn's toughest drug crews in the early 90s. Lame that he took his drug team's name from New Jack city...He's cool though.

Artists who i heard were pus*y, most robbed more than twice
Busta Rymes - true---Not so sure anymore, the steriod rumors are around and the fact he has taken a bottle or two to cats in the past couple years
jazze phae - no idea
Nas - eh
Dr. Dre - yeah
Shyheim from the wu - he had to leave ny cause Bloods were after him. I guess that makes him pussy?
Mase(to the 20th power) got yapped for his chain at a knick game - Eh. And I never heard of that second one
Puff - No
Jermaine Dupri - Who knows

camron(still my man tho) - No, but he's not a super thug in the leaststephon marbury got his chain yapped while takin a nap in his car in NY - Not sure what he was doing but yeah

Allen iverson's been robbed many times - LMAO. Hell no. AI runs with some of the...nevermind. Just...no.

i hear young buck did get his gunit chain yapped in chicago -His chain was snatched but he wasn't wearing it when it happened. But it was returned immediately.

DMX, i heard its all a front for image - No, not at all. DMX is everything he says he is. His jail record can confirm this.

of course Ja Rule and Irv, but i heard irv's brother holds massive weight50's hood but i hear he has NO thorough backup -
No. Both of them dudes are pussies that were childhood friends of Preme and think they are him cause he porivides them with protection.

Snoop lost his juice, but is backed by the crips only because he makes songs to crip to.- No.

Jadakiss - Definitely not a real gangsta, but he does his business. After he became a rapper, but whatever...

Artists i heard were thorough and whyStyles p- one news story i heard is that somebody tried to rob him back during the free the lox campaign, shot the man DEAD and got off on self defense- No. But yeah he's street

Cormega-I've heard for YEARS this cat has sh*t on lock in some places in brooklyn and queens
- Yeah he's a gangsta

Ghostface & Cappadonna- Reason ghostface wore a mask in the early days is because he was wanted for robbery when the wu 1st blew up, Cappadonna owned some drug houses here on Staten island for a little while after he got money, i dont know if they're still in business
- Ghostface was wanted and that's why he wore the masks. And all of them were thorough.

Fat Joe- i dont know any real stories but i hear things
